The Centennial Centre is excited to announce an upcoming concert by one of the biggest names in Canadian classic rock. The Stampeders with special guests Cold Tie Walker will be performing at the C2 Field House on Friday March 12, 2010.
The Stampeders have become a house hold name in Canada and have even topped the charts with hits such as “Sweet City Woman” which made the top 30 chart in the US, top 5 chart in Canada and was voted one of the top 10 most recognizable songs of the 70’s. Other well know tittles by The Stampeders include “Wild Eyes,” “Then Came the White Man” and “Devil You.”
In addition to their widely recognized songs they have been recognize with prestigious awards such as the 1972 Juno Awards (Canada's equivalent to The Grammys) for “Best Group,” ”'Best Single” (“Sweet City Woman”), “Best Producer” and “Best Composer”. The Stampeders had the honor of being inducted into the Alberta Recording Association's "Hall of Fame," the Calgary Rock Hall Of Fame and Rich Dodson was inducted into the SOCAN-ASCAP Hall of Fame for his compositions, “Sweet City Woman” and “Carry Me”, as was Kimberly for his composition “Oh My Lady”.
With over one-hundred and fifty (150) reunion concerts to their credit and a brand-new album, "Sure Beats Working" (MPL-CD-0009) on Marigold Records (KOCH International), to the delight of their dedicated fans, old and new alike, The Stampeders! Tickets for this eagerly anticipated show go on sale Wednesday January 27th 2010. Reserved floor seats are priced at $35 in advance and $42 at the door. Private booths of 6 seats on the upper level are also available for $390. All ticket prices are inclusive of fees & taxes, and booth seats include a buffet meal from the Weatherford Centre Ice Restaurant.
