RJ Lalonde Arena

rj

History

The RJ opened its doors to Bonnyville on November 27, 1982. In its 25 years, the RJ has brought the Bonnyville community together in a myriad of ways. Its name is a testament to the legacy of the late Rosaire Joseph (R.J.) Lalonde whose 19 years of volunteer service to minor hockey was remarkable, and exemplified the power of the community spirit that continues to form the foundation of this arena.

As the home of the Alberta Junior A Hockey League Bonnyville Pontiacs, since September 14th 1991, the R.J. Lalonde Arena has witnessed athleticism, sportsmanship and community spirit. In February of 2007, the management duties were transferred to the Bonnyville and District Leisure Facilities Corporation who strive to best solidify both the history and future of the RJ.
