C2 Takes Action For Earth Day 2010

Earth Day is an annual worldwide initiative that has been going strong for forty years and takes place on Thursday April 22, 2010.

Despite the challenges facing the world, there are opportunities to make a difference and to build a healthy, prosperous, clean energy economy now and for the future.  The staff of the Centennial Centre along with building partners will join the more than one billion people in 190 countries that are taking action for Earth Day 2010.

The Centennial Centre Team will be shutting off all lights and all non-essential power inside their facilities to conserve energy from 9:00am – 10:00am.  While taking these power-conserving measures, there will also be a garbage clean-up program on the grounds of the Centennial Centre until 12pm.

The Centennial Centre is proud to take part in this event and encourages all customers and residents of the local communities to do what they can.  Other simple but effective actions that can help promote environmental awareness are:

• Recycle all appropriate materials
• Use tap water instead of bottled water
• Walk or cycle rather than driving everywhere
• Turn off all non-essential power
• Put garbage in bins
